‘Britain’s dullest playground’ is mocked as ‘worse than a chimp enclosure’ but it’s in a surprising location

BRITAIN’S “dullest playground” has been mocked as being “worse than a chimp enclosure” – and its location has left onlookers baffled.

The measly patch of tarmac features one yellow frame in its centre and is surrounded by nothing but concrete, cars and houses.

It is not immediately clear what the frame should be used for, although it is presumably meant for kids to climb.

Most baffling of all, the playground is said to sit in London’s City of Westminster, home to Buckingham Palace – leaving viewers amazed.

Sharing a picture of the play park on Reddit, user CasualUK posted: “My entry for the UK’s dullest playground.”

Users were quick to comment, with one person writing: “I’ve seen chimp enclosures with more and better equipment.

“If your council provides you with something less than is expected for the upkeep of animals, they’re insulting the community and don’t care about you.”

Another said: “This might be one of the saddest attempts for a ‘playground’, it just looks like someone left a weird piece of scaffolding behind.”

Someone else wrote: “It would be more exciting and cost effective to just be a cardboard box every day and place it here for them to play with than this cr*p.”

But others have defended the structure, with person insisting: “Honestly, I would have loved that as a kid – better than a Tesco carpark.”

Someone else said: “Kids are very easily amused, and a bit of climbing always goes down well.”

Another added: “I’ve got a three year old.

“He would seriously get two hours twice a week out of this. Kids don’t need much. It would be a boat one day and a dinosaur the next.”

The park has fierce competition when it comes to being Britain’s worst – with parents slamming this “dilapidated” playground last year.

Meanwhile, others have blasted this park in North Solihull as “worse than Chernobyl” , where burnt grass frames the edges and rusted frames leave their mark.

A Westminster City Council spokesperson said: “We’re aware of the criticism of this play area and the Council is investing funds to improve the area within the next few weeks.

“We are committed to working with local residents on a longer term plan to improve the site and ensure that it serves the needs of parents and children.”
